How often do you have those street rides where you feel like F**k traffic rules and other cagers and give in to your adrenaline machismo and let your right hand do all the talking? I maintain the standard courtesy, I only pull out of stop signs or intersections when no cars are on my way, and very often I will let other cages cross the stop sign intersection first as a good will courtesy. But then there are those babboons who have no perception of safety of others. Cagers who will run riders off the road or pull up in front at speeds (even though it is your right of way, and not theirs), I mean how hard is it to wait two second and let a fellow citizen on two wheels pass to go about their business? I do it all the time, it literally takes 2 seconds of patience to let the motorcycle pass. I stay out of their way, so stay the f**k out of mine.
Not only that, but I almost got sideswiped by other cagers twice this week while driving side by side while I am driving my car!
These are those few times I don't care if sportbikers get bad image. We encounter incidents like these every day, but can't play by their rules all the time, just a thought. And now there are more and more of those dumb asses who'd pull wheelie at the sight of myself glancing their unprotected carcass - good job douche, now get a license and learn to ride properly.
Riding in South Florida isn't worth it at all, no curves here, just traffic and police everywhere, and couple of straights and freeways, it's the domain of squids, stuntaz, and homeboyz. And worse off, we only get one track day out of the entire year, unless you're willing to drive all the way 12 hours to North Florida. I find myself riding less and less, but every time, more and more frentically. My confidence on the bike has increased, but the fear of a mishap or that the bike will bite if unchecked has greatly diminished. Coupled with cagers antics, I don't think the latter is a good combination at all. And this bike encourages the perception that traffic is obsolete.
Anyway enough whining, but point is, I am thinking of selling the bike soon to leave the addiction for a while and/or until I move to less populated area with some back roads.

Sounds like you had a shitty day kinda like mine posted over on SBW about 2 months ago. It was too late to go ride twisties, and too early to just cruise around, and then I end up running into a bunch of douchebags.
Case in point... I don't think you're ready to throw in the towel... does it suck sometimes, sure. But isn't it worth it the other times when you just kinda feel liberated?

Sounds like you know exactly how I feel, great choice of words. I believe in your case, you blamed it on the bike, but I guess I am more direct, I am blaming it on the world. :D

Yeah, damn the world. I also blamed it on having a vagina... Damn it all. :p

Apparently, you never heard of vagina monologue? Oh man, couple years ago a girl got up on our college campus with a mic and speaker and started promoting the book the message, something like how to be gentle with your pu**y, she didn't bother calling it vagina. That certainly made it interesting as I was passing by.

Yeah, my college did the vagina monologues... but it never quite appealed to me, being as how I had one, I didn't need to hear about someone else's. :p

as a married guy, can you refresh my memory. whats a vagina?
anyhoo back on topic.
every ride i get people who piss me off. go slow in the right lane (or left for the yanks), change lanes on top of me, tailgate, or just generally try to kill me.
so i now ride like a dickhead. people steer clear of dickheads.
last friday night i had a tool change lanes right in front of me for absolutely no reason, i hit my high beams and then he proceeded to to intimidate me by tailgating or pushing me out of my lane. he forgot he had signage on his car. i found out where he lived and since it was close to my work, i payed his car a visit on saturday night.
i just take it as part of riding now and don't take it personally unless they push it

This is such a catch 22.... Do we, as riders, who constantly discuss the ignorance of cagers and the likes, stoop to their levels? i know i know, its only fair right?
But isnt that like punching someone because he threw a punch at you? doesnt that give people the perception you are just as much an idiot as he? (or she, tangie :P )
All we really have to sustain our image on the road is our own ability to resist becoming one of them..
The only reason we are gradually gaining respect from the rest of the automotive world is because the majority of us do the right thing, which shows a sign of responsibility and safety that they (cagers etc..) can only admire..
So why in our right minds (except for aussie, ;) ) would we go and destroy this, just because we are sick of them not paying attention?
Im sure there is more productive ways to counter this situation than throwing in the bike-towel, or vandalising someones beloved car (not that they dont deserve it) ... We cant take this lying down, but we cant fight back with the same agression.. So, my fellow two-wheelers, where now from here?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
On a more squid-orientated and lighter note, i passed the highway patrol the other day doing 140kmh in a 80kmh zone.. and for some STUPID reason, i thought "fuckit mate, just pin the throttle, his gotta do a u-turn, get upto my speed, by that time i'll be long gone"... so as i drop it down a gear, 300metres up the road, i run out of fuel!!! i make out that i've only just seen him and pull to the side of the road... and guess what? HE DIDNT HAVE HIS RADAR GEAR SET UP! he estimated my speed at 105kmh and asked me if i was trying to get away from him because he heard the bike get louder reallll quickly! i told him "no sir, i may be an idiot, but im not THAT much of an idiot..." he took my details, returned to the car, then come out and told me about the 101 incidents and broken bones his had from being a police biker, people pulling out in front of him even on a police bike!!! this just highlights how stupid people are, on a bike the size of a small boat with police insignia all around it, and they STILL DONT SEE IT!... anyway he said this is my first and final warning, and told me to slow the fu*^ down because he didnt want to scrape my brains off the road.. fair enough, i havent sped since...
