Honda Civic Starting Problem

I have a 1996 1.4 Honda Civic. Recently the car won't start and then the next day it will start. I took it to a main Honda Dealer where they used a diagnositc machine on the car, and didn't find anything wrong with the car. They took the car for a test drive of 10 miles and everything sounded and worked fine. The mechanic said it seemed a sound car. However, the next day the car failed to start again.
When I turn the key in the ignition, the starter motor turns but the engine dosen't fire. Lights come on the dash as normal. I even tried getting a jump start to ensure the battery wasn't a problem.
Does anyone know what the problem might be? I would appreciate your advise.

Try inspecting/replacing the distributor cap & rotor. Since the battery is working, then it's either a spark or fuel problem. In other words, either you are getting no spark on the spark plugs, or no fuel is coming from your fuel injectors. Once you determined which one is the problem, you can work from there.
