What's the most cost effective (cheap) way to get horsepower gains?

Welcome to AF. The most cost effective mods are freeing up the intake and exhaust. I'm not sure if they are available yet for the 04-ups, but reprogrammed PCM's have come way down in price, but may require you to switch to premium fuel and affect both economy and driveability.
