NO SHIFT, well in 3 gears

Hello, I have a 5sp manual 1994 tracker, with 233000 miles on it, it still runs good, rusted out, but the transmission wont shift into 1st,3rd, or 5th. any suggestions on how to fix it, I took the shifter off, adjusted the positioning pins, put it back together, and worked for the first couple of miles, then, as soon as I stopped the car, IT went out again.
