Sorry it's me again. This time I could not find the correct allen wrench for my differential filler plug.
Is it true that I need an Allen wrench to open the filler plug of the differential. I tried the 3/8'', it's too big, but the 5/16 is too small. Is that possible?
Thanks.

Should be a millimeter plug.

Thanks! My baby is a 96 Camaro RS V6 3.8 L.
I bought a set of metric allen wrench this afternoon. The biggest one is 10 mm, then 8 mm. 10m is too thick, 8 is too thin. Maybe it needs 9 mm. Did anybody do that before? I did not find a set of allen wrench with 9mm. And in my opinion, Chevy only use SAE standard, right?

Damn near EVERYTHING on my LS1 Trans Am is metric.
I actually happen to have my 10 bolt diff. out of the car as we speak.
Checking.......
Okay...being drunk and the car being next to the diff, I couldn't see the fill plug.
I will check tomorrow and get back to you.

Pretty much anything that doesn't bolt directly to the motor is going to be metric.

The filler plug on 10 bolts is 3/8's. You need to clean the gook out of there.

Hi FormulaLT1,
I tried as you said. The hole is not for Allen wrench as I thought, it's a square hole that is fit for the bare 3/8'' wrench:banghead: . I have finished the lubricant change successfully! :naughty:
Thank you so much! You helped a lot besides this one.

Hi FormulaLT1,
I tried as you said. The whole is not for Allen wrench as I thought, it's a square whole that is fit for the bare 3/8'' wrench:banghead: . I have finished the lubricant change successfully! :naughty:

 Oh, I missed the part where you didn't know it was a square plug.
