Dealer has a 350Z, impression from an S2K owner

This is my impression after seeing the 350Z "live"

Just got back from the Nissan Dealership. They got a demo car.

It was a Chrome Silver, base model with "nothing" on it. MSRP $27000, $10,000 markup = $37,000.

It is way bigger than the S2K. It looks very nice though, especially from behind. The front looks a bit too thick. The 17" standard wheels, look too sedanish.... The 18" should look great. The car looks much nicer (the exterior) than a 330ci or a Audi TT etc.......

I sat in the interior for a while. You feel "lonely" inside, cuz the interior is so roomy. It is a 2 seater but there is lots of room in the back. When you are inside the S2K, you feel secure and you feel that you are part of the car. I guess I am just a small guy. Larger guys would appreciate the 350z's interior more. Seats are comfortable, "better" than the bucket seats on the S2K.

The 350z's interior looks nicer in real life than magazines. In real life, it is nice..... Visibility to the backview is not very good, when you do overshould looks. The rear window looks weird from the driver seat. Maybe I am too used to driving topdown with the S2K.

The best thing about this car is the shifter. Nissan DID it!!!!!!! It is short and it feels good, almost like the S2K's.

The salesman was very nice. I asked about the $10,000 markup, and he said it was just BS. If I was serious, he could get me the car for $3,000 over and I can order any color and any model I want, and it will be here in 2 months.

The car was in the showroom, so I couldn't test drive it....... :(

Overall impression:

It is different from an S2K, but it is a very nice car, bang for the buck. You must at least get the Performance model with 18" wheels and HID. For around $31,000 plus tax (Performance model), this is a very nice car. For people who don't like convertibles and love torque, this is your choice.
:)

Good..I was hoping that it was bigger than the S2 Honda. I like the Honda dont get me wrong..I just think that it is too small...Kind of like a
Miata. I am glad to hear that Nissan put a little muscle in the body.

Yours is the second "review" I've seen that has mentioned that rear view "dead space" one gets, when trying to park this thing, and/or see whose comin' up from behind you on your right side, on a five laner.

Not too wild about that. This car has it all.....almost.

Will probably still buy this car, because it also does NOT have all the other stuff, that "true" sports cars are built with.

This car was built to appeal more for people like me, who are a bit "over the hill" and going through a second childhood. It's interior size for starters, is what makes me want one of these things, and I am only 158 lbs....but 6' even.

It's a dynamite road handler, that almost helps the guy behind the wheel, do what is supposed to be done.

Plus for me....an amateur, it's the LOOK!

This car just looks so damn nice!

I mean who buys cars just for the looks?

My grandson (a top Arizona skateboarder), calls 'em..... "Posers"!

The dealer is  If you can wait about 2-3 months, I suggest you shop around in Bay Area. I went to Fremont nissan last week and talked to the sales manager. They don't have any mark up at all.:sun:
