First let me say I have a 2001 gtp with 80 K on it. I just replaced both front hubs since one was bad i figured i would replace both at once. The ABS light came on about a month ago and i thought i was probably due to the one of the hubs being bad. The new hubs sound great, or should i say they dont make a sound, which is the way there suppose to sound. The first time the ABS light came on it went back off on its own for a day. Then if I pumped the brakes a while the light would go off for a min or so until i started driving.
I did tork the all the bolts and didnt use an impact wrench. Well just wondering if there was any other things i could do before i took it to the shop.

How is the conventional part of the braking system? Are the pads and rotors good? With just an ABS light it means some part of the ABS failed. This could be the ABS motor pack/modulator or somethng electrical like the EBCM module under the dash.

The best thing to do is get it scanned at a shop that has ABS scanner capability and see if there are any stored ABS fault codes.

BTW - Normally the hubs are good unless you are getting noise like humming and/or both the ABS and Trac Off lights are on.

yeah the drivers front hub was bad it was really humming and causing vibration. Just figured since i had all the tools handy and they seem to go out a lot i just switched both front hubs out.

The front pads were changed about 3 months ago the back ones are close to being to the point that they need to be changed. If the rear pads are getting really low would that cause the ABS light to come on also? Would the ABS light go off on its own after the problem was fixed or does it have to be cleared with a scanner?

On the rear pads possible but probably not the cause of the ABS light. When you press the brake how does it feel...tight or spongy? Do the brakes stop good?

If you have a ABS light on now then try this. With ignition to off, remove the ABS maxifuse located on the engine compartment fuse box. Then take ignition to on for a few seconds, then off. Re-insert fuse. See if the ABS light clears.

Well thanks for the help and ideas

well i thought i would try the maxifuse trick, however i dont seem to have one that controls the ABS. the only maxi fuses in the engine compart are
1 cooling fan2
2 spare
3 headlamps
4 battery main 2
5 ignition main 1
6 cooling fan 1
7 battery main 1
8 ignition main 2

the only one that has listed for abs is the number 28 AC clutch,ABS ignition. Which is only a 10 mini.

As far as the feel of the brakes they seem ok maybe on the squishy side but dont really think they are that bad and it stops in a good distance, and since the ABS is off I have locked the brakes up on pavement so the brakes are holding.
Guess I will just have to take it in and get it scanned

The fuse layouts vary between models years but the fuse is the same one as the A/C clutch/ABS ign. So pull that one. It used to be a maxifuse but I guess it has been changed. It has to be the right one because when you pull it you lose the A/C clutch (shared). This is the same one I disable at the dragstrip to inhibit the compressor and ABS/traction control system.
