Cylinder #2 not firing

Got a little prob. My girlfriend has a 1998 Neon that, as the title states, is not firing in the #2 cylinder. When you try to get on the gas, the engine bogs and the CEL flashes until you get off a few seconds after you gas. The engine will bog in all five gears whenever you get on the gas too hard. Ex: 65 mph in 5th gear will cause it to bog. As will say, 3rd at 40-50 mph. The only time it doesn't bog is when the engine is in the higher RPM's. It has brand new spark plugs, so I'm thinking it may be the coil. Any advise is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

First thing check for good hot blue spark at the spark plug.
If good spark have a look at spark plug.
What brand of plugs did you feed it?
If no spark at plug switch plug wires.
If still no spark check coil.

Aghree with MT 2500. I would make sure the plug wires are tight on the plugs and if the plugs have the screw on tops that the tops are tight (I had a Champion plug top come loose and lodge in the plug wire and it was a bear to get out. Once out I tightened the top and that solved my miss). As stated, flip flop the plug wires and see if the miss follows the plug wire (I have an old inductive timing light so it is easy for me to check). If the miss does not follow the wire then you probably have a bad coil pack( have not checked to see if you need to replace the entire pack or if it comes apart in replaceable sections (the old GM four bangers had two sections, one for two plugs each and you could buy just the section you needed).
