88 B2200 carb or computer issue help!

I have an 88 B2200 that won't idle below about 1500 RPM. It appears to be running lean. Also I tried getting codes out and the check engine light doesn't come on. I already put a kit into the carb, but didn't soak it. The truck has been sitting for many years before we got it so we are unsure of any problems before we got it. It runs and has enough power, just can't keep it running. Every stop it'll die.

Did you start with a tune up? Fuel filter, wires, plugs, cap, Etc.
If it was sitting, the fuel is shelac and the carb is probably gummed up. I would throw some cheap parts at it then get it to a shop.

Automatic or manual?Stock carb?There is a solenoid on stock carbs that controls idle speed.Passenger side of carb .Check with probe to be sure ur getting 12 volts to the solenoid.Also check all ur vacuum hoses for leaks.No.1 problem on these old trucks is brittle vacuum hoses that are leaking air into system and causing missing ,poor idle,etc.Check and be sure plugs are gapped correctly.32/1000 is proper gap.Hope this helps.BJ
