Hey, I recently bought a MAC catback system with the 3" stainless tips and it looks great and sounds great, quiet when cruising and loud enough when you step on it. Anyway, since i have a little bit of money left over I was thinking of purchasing a H pipe for my car, i know that i want to go with MAC again, i want to keep the exhaust the same. So i was looking at getting a prochamber, off road h pipe, or h pipe with high flow cats. The thing that i am worried about is the emmision testing. I live in Ontario Canada, and I need to get my car tested every 2 years which is really annoying. My first choice would be the Mac prochamber, but with it on will it pass the e-test? Same thing goes for the off road h pipe. Now the h pipe with high flow cats is alot more expensive then the other too and will probably pass the e-test, but are the power gains the same?
An other little question that might sound stupid but i have to ask anyway, in order to change your H pipe do you have to change your headers or will they fit on the stock ones?? The reason why i ask that is because when i was surfing the net i noticed on alot of sites that certain H pipe are met for long tube headers and short tube headers... I'm guessing on stock headers i would need the h pipe that goes with the shorties??
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Simon

yea get the h pipe that goes with the shorties, and you wont pass emissions with the prochamber or offroad, you will pass with the highflow cats, its probly like a 5-8 hp difference, but the sound will be alot different the cats will make it alot quieter, if you want the offroad h id say get the test now before putting it on and keep your stock h and swap it back on in 2 years for the test again

Get one with no cats, they are cheaper and will yield more power.

offroad h pipe with removed cat on a 01 gt sounds pretty damn good. i would say get offroad h pipe with removed cat and just like everybody said about the emission keep stock and swap off every 2 years just for inspection (unless u have somebody high up and can get u a sticker or depends on ur state laws with the decibel limitations)

Simon, get an H-Pipe with cats. I use to run a 2.5" O/R H-pipe and then switched to a cheap catted Catco 2 1/4" H-pipe for emissions testing (Ontario). I honestly didn't notice a performance difference and the car is quieter at idle (Dynomax Super Turbo catback). My engine is virtually stock with Mac equal length shorties. Do yourself a favor and get a catted H-pipe so you can pass emissions (assuming the rest of your smog equipment is hooked and working properly) and don't bother swapping it out.
