A very strange question

I'm typing out a document at the moment and I need to insert a symbol that I've never seen before and which also doesn't seem to be in Microsoft Word.

It's like a rounded w with a " above it.

Anyone know what it is or where I can find one to insert into a word document??

Look in WordPad! The numbers to the side on the keyboard can be typed in to use codes for creating such symbols. WordPad will have an option that shows you such symbols. Hope I explained enough and that it's right! :D

It will take forever to go through all the different combinations.

Every computer should have it! Go to Start then Programs then Accessories then WordPad should be the last under thing in the list. Oh, it may possible Notepad. If you can't find it, then I don't know! Under one of those though, you should be able to find the list on your own. If not, I check my PMs! :D

Yes, the data entry! It would actually take you forever since there are over 5000 codes I do believe! Good luck!

Well, your probably screwed then! :silly2:

So, you check them but don't respond! :( Maybe it didn't even send  Igor doesn't respond to mail either

Anyhow, that's the only way I know how to do it. I just can't believe you don't have WordPad or Notepad!?!

Where is everyone else's input!?!

Darn it! Gotta send it agan then. I've never sent you one though did I?

Anyhow, this thread has had a lot of views? Maybe no one is computer literate? When does this document need to be finished? I'll see if I can find it, post it, then you can use it! I'll find the whole list if I have to!

Spec2! Spec2! I found it! I found it! Go back to Accessories, then find Character Map under Accessories or under System Tools!

Now, all you have to do is find the symbol you want!

I've never used it is why I didn't know where it was at first. I guess Help actually does help.

Where was everyone last night with this info? Or early, early, early, early, in the morning!?!

Thanks for your help everyone. :) Unfortunately I don't have access to the Character Map (for some bizarre reason  ).

The good news is that I did find the symbol eventually by going through every single symbol menu in Word. I found it in "Greek Extended".

Not sure if it will show up too well, but here is the symbol I was trying to find:

Hey Spec, I believe the .exe file is called charmap.exe, you may want to do a search for it on your hard-drive, then you could add a shortcut to it in your start menu or on your desktop. For some reason, my work computer didn't have it either, but it was still on the hard-drive...

I don’t have access to the desktop to change my wallpaper or screensaver and I don’t have games, etc, etc.

Until you need a new symbol!

Spec2-Why exactly did you need such a symbol?
