do thicker wires do anything?

i was at kragens and the guy told me that if i were to get some 10mm sprkplug wires, it wouldnt do me much good unless i had something like a msd ignition. can upgrading wires help any setup?

Yes, thicker is better.. It creates less resistance. Use "Ohm's Law".
