Cellular Phone for 98 Explorer

I bought a totally tricked out 98 Eddie Bauer Explorer with all the options that Ford could put on it for that year. It has a cellular phone hook up but of course no phone. Does anyone know how I can get a phone or how I can get it hooked up and service re-established?

Where is the cell phone hookup, and what does it look like? Have you talked to the dealer?

And do you know if the OEM phone is an analog only phone? Many cellular carriers now want phones to be digital with GPS capabilities for efficiency reasons, bandwidth reasons, and regulatory reasons. If you insist on having an old analog phone activated, they sometimes will "encourage" you to go digital through certain high activation charges, etc.

I suggest you look into the phone system in the Explorer before spending money on the handset, unless you just want to have it to complete the interior.
