Suggestions for rough running 1996 plymouth neon

my 1996 plymouth neon is running rough especially when accelerating..it sputters and will not pick up speed without missing etc..I went to have the codes checked and got the following codes: P0403-EGR Flow Circuit, P0123-Throttle Position Sensor, P0108-MAP/BAro Circuit High Input, P0113-IAT Sensor 1 circuit high input, P0135- Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1 So, now the question- If i replaced the oxygen sensor and throttle position sensor would it help it run alot better?? Do not have alot of cash to fix all of the problems....Any suggestions for how i could get it to run alot better without spending a fortune on it?...any suggestions will be appreciated.

I would start with the EGR and TPS, then the O2 sensor. A brand new EGR will run you around $90-$100 from the dealer or autoparts store and the O2 sensor is about the same. Got any junkyards around you? You could go pull what you need and try to save money that way. I've done that before.

You could also try putting in some new Champion copper spark plugs.

i got the same problem when i stop or at a red light when i go to accelerate it starts to sputter and then after a few seconds it well run go again but it happens when i accelerate not when im driving and i dont get any codes or anything i need help

Welcome on your first post on AF.
You need some proper testing before throwing parts at it.
First you have to many codes.
Clear all codes and see what one comes back first.
And go over the tune up end . eng fuel filters and plugs and stuff like that.

Think all you want to about it but.
It will do a lot more good than throwing parts at it.
It will give you a idea of where to start.
He has to many codes to start with.
Why worry about losing a few of them?:grinyes: :rofl: :lol:
Clearing codes and seeing what comes back is always the first step or best way to go.
As I see it that is the proper diagnoist to that many codes at one time instead of throwing parts at it.
And if the EGR valve is actually bad or a problem on egr valve system the code will come back
And a code does not say throw parts at it anyway it says check it out .
But why would you want to keep all of them codes .
Ps. if it has that many codes or if all of them come back it usually points to a bad PCM.
But you are going to need to do a proper diagnostic check and some testing on it to find your problem.

Well the pcm would have to be dummer than owl shit it would not pick up a egr valve or circuit problem.
Even OBD1 will fuss about a bad egr valve system.
The code he gave is not even a egr valve code it is a egr valve solenoid or circuit problem code.
And all but one code and I am not sure that it can not be caused by a bad PCM.
Go threw your repair flow charts for them codes.
But anytime you have 5 codes like them at one time.
You need to do some proper testing.
Someone has started pulling plugins off or disconected some sensors and set a false code or you may have a pcm or pcm wiring or voltage problem.
First step in proper diagnostic is clear codes and see what one returns first and go from there.

When was the last time you had a tune-up? Could be plugs, wires, air filter, EGR valve, and other things.

thanks guys for all the suggestions...gonna have it checked out next saturday and clear the codes etc and see what comes up...will update to let you know if i have any success in getting the ol' car running smoother again..thanks again and have a good weekend.

I had similar code errors and replaced the o2 sensor and EGR valve--not difficult but kinda spendy--cleared the codes--and then got the exact same errors. Of course it was the PCM. If you consider what the PCM does it does make sence why it would throw off codes. Because it is true that an error code doesn't mean replace the part--just check it out. Good luck!!!
