carbon roll cage???

would it be possible to have a roll cage made of carbon fiber? how much would it cost

It wouldn't be functional and would be essentially worthless for safety purposes and not pass inspection at any sort of track.
The problem is that a cage has to be a single solid piece. You can weld metal to make a cage such a piece but you can't weld cf nor can you mold it as one giant piece in the shape of a cage.

just like Mike said, it doesn't have the strength.
carbon fibre is very stong, but it's not resiliant when it comes to sudden impacts. like glass, you can put a lot of weight on a glass table, and it will hold it. but you drop a 2lb weight on it and the table will shatter.
same with a roll cage, a steel cage with bend and will bare the brunt of the force, but carbon fibre is break and splinter. and you don't want to be showered with shards of razor-sharp carbon fibre.
