Well..... ive owned the car for 1 month now... the 91 sl of course and i just installed my first mod today (besides new battery) and it was a $40 air intake - im pretty happy with it - its red and looks really good in the engine bay- I also got my datalogger 2 days ago.. and love it because it makes graphs while i am driving... although i dont know if anything on it is bad or good ... lol < and everything else is running pretty smooth-with the logger i got the CEL and its code 14 throttle position sensor and i have no idea what that means and how to fix that.... the trans is stuck in limp/safe mode still or whatever- im about to order my downpipe/testpipe to fix the exhaust leak and then shortly after fix the trans.... ive gotten ALOT of good looks in this car and i love it so much already.. well thanks for reading and comments/help/ anything is welcome...

Your TPS just keeps track of the throttle "linkages". As for fixing it, you may try looking for where it plugs in at and see if the plug in is a good connection. You can also run a voltmeter to check if your getting 5 Volts at idle at the TPS. That would be the first thing I might do.

all praise to SportsB for getting a datalogger! woohoo! seriously, everyone here should have a datalogger. its great for pulling codes (saves you from paying the dealership $75 to do it), lets you diagnose boost, timing, other issues for TT guys, and for NA guys it lets us watch our engine parameters logged and learn more about how the car works with hopes of getting a TT someday.
now that you have a datalogger, i suggest you alos get a service manual (www.manualcd.com) (on cd). reading the service manual will give you invaluable information, and it also serves as an endless resource (when combined with resources of AF.com and other places on teh web) to diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining your car.
as for code 14 and your TPS, follow SL3000gt's guidelines. also, a service manual would help you learn more about the TPS, how it works, adn what most likely the code 14 means about the TPS (i would tell you, but i'm out of town and don't have my service manual on this computer).
as for your continued problems with the ATX, i assume you are still looking for a used TCU?
AND congrats on installing the open air element filter! i saw on threeSeye you had some difficulties removing the stock intake and getting the nuts/bolts out of the airbox/MAS. those nuts/bolts are crazy b/c they spin freely in the plastic that is supposed to hold them still so the nuts can be removed. but we've all overcome that 1st mod and the difficulties that ensue. congrats, and here's to more mods in the future! cheers cheers!

wow you pretty much nailed it lol... ya I will def. get that service manual... the tps is probally just a bad sensor that needs replacing.... the airbox as just like you said but after lots of wd-40 and then used some sort of clamps to hold one side i broke loose the other.... as for the TCU... ya i am looking but not really hard..... just kinda lazy i guess lol...the open air element filter is cool i really like it cheap $40 for a good looking addition to my engine bay... thanks for the help though...
