Tranny Dipstick

The transmission dipstick for my Taurus is missing. Since I also have a transmission leak, this could obviously result in some serious problems. For whatever the reason, a bunch of local salvage yards do not have the one for me engine, the Vulcan, code U. I've also looked online in various places, and I haven't had much luck there. Does anyone have any suggestions as where to look for one?

Ford dealer

Ford dealer can order you one on a RUSH OVERNIGHT delivery and I can't see where it would be *that* expensive. Your local junk yards have a teletype hook up with thousands of other junk yards and if the want to they can find one. You need to know what model TRANNY and the Ford dealer can tell and it would be nice if all Tauri used the same stick for your model year, but you didn't say what year Taurus.

Auto trannys are VERY sensitive to fluid level and to much is almost as bad as not enough and I'd do whatever it took to get a dip stick before the tranny suffers serious damange. I'm with Higgs, go to the Ford dealer and get one and have done with it.
