01 ranger speedometer

I have a 01 ranger that the 5 speed tranny went out in , i put a tranny from a 99 in and the speedometer isnt working the two speedometer hook ups didnt match.Other than that it works great.So my question is ,is there a way to swap out the tail pieces on the tranny or to change the fittings so that my speedometer will work and will it still work the same
