2000 Toyota Sienna Randomly Locks Itself

My 2000 Toyota Sienna suddenly began locking itself randomly. The problem started about a year ago for no apparent reason.

Recently the car's battery died, so I assumed that the old battery may have been the problem. But no, even after it was replaced, the van continues to lock itself randomly, no matter if the key/remote is in my hand, in my purse, in my pocket, or sitting on the kitchen counter with nobody touching it!

So far this has only happened when the car is turned off. Once I was walking toward the car in the garage and I heard it lock itself totally out of the blue! The key/remote was sitting on the kitchen table!

Has anyone else experienced this problem? What can be done about it?

Yes! My 1998 Toyota Sienna randomly locks itself. In fact, it will sit in the driveway and you can hear the locks clicking. This happens as you are driving down the road as well. I'm here looking for a solution as my repair shop's solution is to pull each door apart one at a time costing upwards of $100 each. I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has any idea of a direct solution. Another poster mentioned the security harness. When I called the dealership they acted as if I didn't know what i was talking about.
Any ideas?

Have you solve your problem??? I have the same problem as you have with my Sienna 2003 XLE. Please email me if you have found the solution.

im a technician at a toyota dealer and i have seen a few siennas have this problem. every one of them has come down to a faulty door lock actuator in the passenger front door. not a cheap fix though. the part itself is in the 200 dollar range and not the easiest to change but can be done at home with light mechanical abilities.
