H23a is a DOHC/VTEC engine. The JDM Accord SiR-T Wagon had it...but I don't think it was available for the Prelude. About 200hp.

H23a1 is a DOHC/non-VTEC engine. Stock engine for the 4th gen Prelude Si. 160hp.

sorry to bring back another thread but to correct u the h23a is the jdm h23...non vtec DOHC producing 160hp with 156 ft/lbs of tourqe....i know because i have one. the h23 ur thinking of is the edm h23. that did come out of the accord SiR-T and has VTEC. it is called the blue top and yes it has about 200hp.
h23a- JDM
h23a1- USDM
h23 VTEC-EDM

both JDM and USDM h23's came in the 92-96 prelude Si's. not sure when the blue top was put out
