Yeah I've gotten that problem before. I recently downloaded the entire triple X movie and it didn't play, I was pissed. When I would try to play it in windows media player it wouldn't play and I would get some wierd error message. So anyways I went to yahoo and typed in that error message and I got a site that explains what it means. They said that this error message means that the video was encoded differently and that it could only be played on the computer that encoded the video. They didn't give any explanation on how to fix it so I'm still searching. If I find out what to do then I'll let you know. BTW does anybody know where I can d/l window media player 6.4? I downloaded the new version (version 7.0) thinking that would play the video but it doesn't play it and this version is slow and has too much stuff on it. I liked the simpler 6.4 better so does anybody know where to get it?

what you guys need are codex, it let you play different files extension. i'm guessing you guys know that since we all use cpu. whatever extension is at the end of the file, just type that in the search engine to find a codex for it. i hope that help.

if its an .avi and it doesn't play, it was probably encoded with divx, you can download the free bundle at download.com if you need it

that just means that the video is not encoded with divx. but there are a lot of different codecs that people use, but i can't think of any right now. you could probably find more if you did a search on the web.

try the new free real player, it plays alot of broken avi files that wouldnt even open in windows media player. also if it is set as the default viewer for mpg you can actually open the movie while it is still downloading just like you can do with an asf file.

The new version of Windows Media Player (version 7.0 I think) does that as well. I hate this version of windows media player because it's way slower then the old one and this one just has too many useless buttons on it that just take up space.
