I am looking into a 2004 GP... are they good cars? I had a 95 grand am and that was a big piece of crap and I said I was done with pontiac... would it be a bad move to look into this GP? Its a 2004 with the 3.8V6 and has 37,000 miles on it... what do you all think, let me know!

There really hasn't been a lot of information published on this forum about the '04 and '05 Grand Prix except for some discussion about the Gen 4 engine. If there are no real issues posted then I expect that the vehicle is reliable although others may have differing opinions. Personally, I like the new Grand Prix and would buy one if I was in the market for a new car.

I may be biased but I think they are extremely good cars. I'd put mine up against any Honda or Toyota for reliability or longevity. I must have gotten a middle of the week car because mine has been excellent.

There are a few real world issues that I know of based on input from our local GP club. Complaints about getting poor fuel economy compared to Gen III Grand Prixs and something about using 1 quart of oil every 2-3K miles? :disappoin

I won't comment too much on the design and looks. The designer(s) must have been on crack.

Lynn - If you decide to buy a Gen IV I'll shoot myself or worse yet go out and buy a riceburner (Nissan or Toyota). However, I still prefer the GTO.

Like any used car check it out thoroughly!
