My car sucks

Today at work I got to do a short test drive in a friends 05 GTO 6 speed. Not only is the interior top notch but it feels as powerful as it should. I didn't want to drive my car home haha. Also another guy just got his monster camaro back from getting the engine worked (pushing 420 at the wheels) and it shreds the tires through 3rd gear. It really makes me want to speed up this process of shopping for another car. This sucks haha...

I have a 2000 Mustang GT Manual very lightly modded....nothing that can stack up against these other two beasts.

Haha I am not looking for a trade, this winter i think I will sell though. I am looking for a 99 vette. I think I ought to get a decent price for the mustang because its in good condition and its only got 61000 miles on it.

You can fix that for about $3,800: https://www.rpmoutlet.com/musv8ati.htm

Hey! I'd love to have a mustang GT. It's faster than anything that I drive. But I like to cruise more than I do speed.

Yeah, but then he'd have to pay for the installation fee. Those supercharger kits are not easy to install. Also he probably won't be running that much boost for that much money. He'd need an intercooler, and 9psi to really see serious gains.
Besides a vette will flat out stomp a stang, supercharged or not, cornering wise. I can't even remotely come close to touching one in the twisties.

Have you dynoed it yet? 4psi is just barely enough for the pulley. I'd imagine the extra 2 psi must only add up to maybe 40whp. I could be wrong though.

I thought installing a supercharger was pretty straight forward? The kit for his car would be the first kit listed it’s an 8 psi kit which includes an intercooler.

My bad, I should've read more thoroughly. Most s/c kits are w/o an s/c, and only have 6psi, which stinks IMHO. At 8psi he'd be making some serious power. I believe that would put him well beyond 300whp. Enough to hose down those pesky LS1's (Which are stock, but we all know 99% are not stock, so, gotta find that 1%).

Well the 05 GTOs are selling real cheap now, slightly used and you can pick one up for around 24K!
If it makes you feel any better i have an 06 LS2 and probably run the same times as your poney......but thats just me :banghead:

Actually the guy got his for 22000 and I think it only has 23000 miles. I thought that was a steal. Plus Musashi, I bet you are trapping more than a couple miles an hour faster than I would. I know that supercharger kit would have noticable gains on the stang but I think I am leaning toward the vette right now.

Well obviously you’d be better off with the Vette. I’m just giving you a cheaper option.

Why? The Cobra’s IRS just adds weight and makes the car harder to launch. The way I look at it he’d be better off modding the car he’s got now.

Actually my first inclination was an 03 cobra, but as it turns out they are selling for 5000 more than most 99 vettes I have seen. On top of that nobody can argue that the cobra is honestly a better all around car than the vette, although the cobra is a solid performer.

ehh well that makes sense.
on the other response, the IRS may add weight, but it is unsprung and therefore does not affect handling in that sense and it helps balance out the weight distribution. if you look at SN95 mustangs, the cobras have the best weight distribution because of the IRS. so it may hurt slightly in the straight line but it helps quite a lot on corners compaired to the SN95 live axle setup. another reason why you would buy it instead of modding the car he has now... because it comes stock capable of modding to basically any realistic power for a street application. and its insanely easy to get a lot more power out of it.
