Headers

Im looking to get headers for my CRX and im not sure who to go with. Performance and sound quality are just as important. I know a few ppl who have DC Sports Ceramic Headers and I dont like how they sound so im not thinking about going with DC Sports.

As of right now I have the D16z6 motor, with the Greddy/Trust MX Exhaust and a AEM Cold Air Intake, and a few other minor things but nothing really dealing with air flow, besides a high flow cat but that will be gone once i get headers.

What is a good company to get for a 1.6 SOHC motor that has a somewhat deep or nice sound and good performance??? I know that the sound will be louder (even though as of now my exhaust is real quite and kinda deep) but i don't want to get headers and have my CRX sounding like the rest of the Honda's i hear that are obnoxious(sp).

dc sports ceramic coated header (only one head on a 4 cylinder engine) is the best period... unless you can afford a BisiMoto header...

If you don't like the sound it's probably because some ricer has no resonators and is running open exhaust with a fart can and no other mods. BTW, get rid of your cat and expect it to sound like shit.

I've had my header on my car for 4 years. Also, my exhaust sounds pretty good IMO... for a POS ricemobile anyway...

2 of my friends have the DC Sport Ceramic Headers (1 is a Integra LS and the other is a Spec-V) and they both have almost the same sound. And i thought the headers came with the downpipe that went straight the to midpipe?? Or is there still room for a Cat????

My 4-2-1 DC header has space for a cat to bolt right in..however the piece that is bolted there is just a straight tube i found out :P

Ok So Should I Get The 4-1 Or The 4-2-1 Header???? Which Is Better For Sound Quailty???

lol..I have a dc header with no cat/resonators and 2 inch pipe..and it did sound like total shit so I got a huge nice muffler at my local shop put on now it's quietish..but still has a anoyying buzzing noise over 4500 rpm.. My g/fs stock d16a6 has all stock exhaust with the cat still on and a generic "high flow performance" muffler..and it sounds deep and nice. Taking off my cat was one of those dumb things I did 2 years ago..that I'm now gonna undo.

From what I have heard, SMSP has one of the best Header for Honda's. They are kinda pricey, don't know about compared to the BisiMoto, but I have heard nothing but good about them.

I have only used a HP Racing header, and since I never drove the car with a stock manifold, I can't really say anything about performance with it. And I can't really say anything the sound since my exhaust is cut off behind the drivers seat since its a race car.

i have a polished jdm header on mine with a test pipe and 5zigen exhaust. i need to get a resonated cat tho cuz it sounds way to ricey and loud for me. it is obnoxious but oh well i still enjoy runnin all the shitboxes around central OH. id go with a dc ceramic header and a high flow cat if you want a deeper sound.

i don't have a cat but the headers i have are pacesetter.4-2-1 2piece. they work fine and i got a otto-r can on the back. my exhaust is nice and deep till vtec kicks in then it is a lil ricey

Ok so I'm probably going to go with the DC Sport Header.....but should i go with the 4-2-1 header or the 4-1 header??? I've heard there are differences but it was so long ago I can't remember what the differences are.

Selling point: My high compression d16a6 engine detonated and started a fire in my engine bay and the dc header held up just fine...

My set up is like this... dc header to catco hi-flow cat to 2" mid pipe to 2" resonator to curved pipe to rear passenger trailing arm to 2.25" extended pipe to driver side to fart can. I have to admit it looks ricey but it is surprisingly throaty. The car was a weekend car when I did the rice exhaust (with no resonator) and it was too damn loud and obnoxious. So I had the resonator welded in after the linkage before the bend. That was quite awhile ago and I just left it when I started commuting in the crx 400 miles a week. The only reason I never put a dynomax muffler in stock position is because I spent over 100 bucks for my stainless steel fart can way back in the day and couldn't justify going back to a $40 muffler. LOL I don't drive the car anymore though so I don't care...

BTW, I've heard 4-2-1 is better for low end torque but 4-1 is better for high end pulls.

Good look. Ill probably go with the 4-1 for high end since i wont be in low RPM when racing.

Did you get your headers after your exhaust or around the same time??? Cuz i dont have a resonator on my exhaust and i have a high flow cat on now and it still is fairly deep and quiet.

Well, when I bought the car it had a hedman chikara header wrapped with thermo-tec. The thermotec hid the holes in the bottom collector pipes (the -2- part of the header) and the burnt oil fumes were killing me. So I got the coilover springs and had the car raised back up and had the dc header put on. The engine blew and pretty much killed the old exhaust (which was a custom job) so I went through a bunch of experimenting... no cat with 2 big ass glasspacks (yeah it was a redneck job by mustang dudes) but that was soon replaced with one glasspack and the hi-flow cat but it still wasn't doing it for me, so I had the glasspack taken off and had a Thrush Turbo muffler welded in like stock. I rallied the car and that muffler got dented and started to rust on the end tubes so I had it replaced with the fart can. Then I added the resonator later. I'm happy with it now. But like I said, I don't hardly drive it anymore... GL
