Ram Air for a V-6 Camaro

Theoretically speaking here... I checked out how the ram air is setup for the SS V-8 on the 95. Looking and jusging by the hood, etc. It would not be that hard to make the Z-28 or the V-6 a Ram air. There are some good photos of the setup on the SS at http://www.americansportscar.com/products/camaro/generation4.htm
under S-600 (hood) and S-610 (Ram air Box/filter)!
So any body who has some input on this please reply.

After some further investigation, the Ram air off of a 93-95 SS, which I only think they made from 95 on, It will bolt on. The only problem is, the 3.4L V-6 sits higher in the engine bay the LT1 or LS1, so the hood would have to be a custom. Suncoast Creations, makes the hoods, but they would have to specially make me one that would sit about 2 inches higher on the scoop to adjust for this. So I came up with a new Idea......
Watch out you V-8's and SS...Check out the 650HP V-6 Thread...!!!

Why is any V6 Camaro putting out 650 hp? Thats a lot of work and money from your starting point of what 200 hp?

It would be a awsome "Sleeper". Pull up to the light, see what looks like a stock V-6. He wants to race your Z28, you look at him like ok, your on, then he puts $20 bucks on the deal, and your like, Free $20 bucks, then the Light go's green, and he Blows your doors off...
Come on, you gotta see the humour and agony in that.

humorous yes.....and the bragging rights would be nice...

but I'd rather put the money into my z-28....or towards one.....

First, the SS came back in 1996, just a note.

Second, I know on the 3.8L Series II V6's, the airbox sits off center of the engine itself. I don't know if that's the same for the 3.4L V6 that was in the 95. Might be something to keep in mind.

It would be funny but its just stupid. Your wasting your money with a shitty V6 GM probably just slapped together. If you have the money to blow on that stuff then that means you have enough money to buy a Z28 or SS.

Another option, instead of getting a newer Z28 or SS, you could always get a 3rd Gen Z28 or IROC. Those can be made into some bad machines with just a little money.

Yah, I see all of your points. First insurance more than doubles for me ona Z28 and damn near triples for an SS, atleast for another two years till I turn 25. Second, How many V-6's you know that can slap the piss out of an SS...? Yah the six is heavely modified, and it took some work, but its lighter, and faster and can out handle the SS and Z-28.
Honestly, I dont know if I will Turbo or Nos it, Im going to build the motor first and se what it can do, that will only cost me about $3500.00, and it will still be fast at that rate. So we will go from there.

Do you know that you can buy an alluminum 4.3 with 4 bolt main caps from GM? With iron heads (because of heat, they will make more HP than vortech alluminum heads) and a Syclone intake you can feed it mad boost with 2 turbos. loose the heavy ass steel fenders and hood and polyurethane nose for a one peice fiberglass tilt up front end and you'll be handling excellently! For the HP you'll want a billet crank (not pored cast crap) and you can bore and stroke it just like a 350 (same cylinders just minus 2). Now, if your serious about weight reduction concentrate on rolling mass. Those heavy ass rims and fatty tires need to go! Get a 17/18 ZR1 combo and some low pro tires like a Vette.

1 lb off the wheel's weight is like 100 lbs off the car after from take off to 60 MPH.
Last weight tip from the peanut gallery: Put the battery above the passenger side rear wheel.
