champion vs. bosch+4

Which spark plug is better? I've heard that the champions give the same performance for a neon r/t as the +4's. Then again, a friend of mine told me +4's are always better for any car.

Here is, from my research, a pretty good ignition setup for a moderate-performance DOHC Neon.
First to answer your question : no. From my research and observation, the OEM Champions are sufficient save for the highest performance engine. If you want a platinum plug NGK is sufficient for the Neon.
- MSD Coil (MSD 8239 OR 29)
- MSD Wires (MSD 32723)
- MSD Ignition Controller (MSD DIS-2)
- OEM Champions (RC9YC)
- Magnecors (#45231 for 8.5mm) are phenomenal wires but I've heard people have issues with their warranties and customer service. I don't know I'm only going on heresay. But for performance Magnecor is the best choice for wires.
Plugs don't really matter as much as wires and electronic components do.

I am running basic NGK plugs in my 95 neon and getting around 50mpg when i dont try to drive it like a race car. Personally i would never put Champions in any vehicle but that is only my opinion of course. One thing to remember though is just because it came stock in your car does that mean its the best? How many things have people upgraded in there cars from dealerships cause they were sub standard? Do you trust an automobile manufacturer to put the highest quality parts in on the assembly line ? or the parts they can get the cheapest so they can make more money when they sell the car to you?
take a look here
http://www.sparkplugs.com/sparkplug411.asp
and it will help you decide for yourself what to use in your own car.

One thing to remember though is just because it came stock in your car does that mean its the best?Champion copper plugs have proved to be the best in a neon...PERIOD! People can debate all they want and have their preferences, but they work great!
The only exception is if you are running a turbo or nitous, in which case you need a colder plug.

I wouldnt mind seeing the test results that proved Champions were the best if you dont mind? Independant study of course.

Never put +4's in anything, EVER! they tend to lead to misfire problems and the extra electrodes do not create extra sparks, all they do (theoretically) is cause a longer life but they don't really work, they also hurt the flow in the combustion chamber (shrouding). unless you have done significant work to your engine and know a lot about plugs just stick with the OEM, they are more than sufficient (intakes and exhaust systems are not anywhere near significant work. Also, plugs are one of the most important parts of an ignition system. A few years ago, before I learned better I put in +4's, a few months later I saw a 7mpg decrease and lost the ability to burn 'em, a change of plugs remedied this (champions actually).

Independant study of course. There was a Dyno floating around another site, where they dynoed a neon with platinums and it actually lost 1-2HP. All I can say is that the people who drive, work, and have built the quickest neons in the world run either Champion or NGK plugs...no platinums or split-fires!

Late to the party, however, I have tried Champion, NGK-Vgroove (they high speed glazed and burnt out early), Bosch +4, and AUTOLITE double platinum and saw no difference. The AUTULITE did seem to make the engine a bit smoother at idle and a bit quicer to accelerate off the line.

accually champion is a better plug for neons, just because bosch plugs are a platnuim plug and they do not run good in neons!!! the copper plug is better and runs better than bosch so if you want to change out bosch plugs that you spend 6 dollars a plug on have at it, but you can run an NGK or champion and be alot better off

actually bosch has a nice copper plug as well , you dont have to get there platnums , and the jury is still out on champions , still waiting on those stats from a reputible comparison company. As of yet , im betting all plugs run same in a neon as long as you talk the same type of plug. EG: coppers , plat , double plat , iridium , or XP's

Wouldnt take my word before , i say they are junk , so much so that in our store we wont even special order them for customers... in the 12 years i have been selling parts we have sold Champions maybe 10 times total. And as they say in the market , champions were a great plug , even the best when they came onto the market. And they havent changed a bit since.....

Champion Copper Core plugs work the best for a Neon period.
I have used them all in the one I own and the copper cores run smoother, start better and provide better fuel economy than any of the more expesive plugs.
The Bosch +4's are just flat out garbage.

First of all talk about messages , not me , and i didnt say i sold any particular plug what so ever , i did say i dont sell champion UNLESS someone wants them special ordered. As a personal pref i choose NGK or Autolite for most vehicles but that is just my choice. i have had other people buy bosch plugs for neons, ram trucks, and anything dodge, jeep, eagle, ect, you will get constant complants!!! And if you havent you have not been in the buisness very long!!!!!! And as i said i have been in the business for 12 years and i will sell what the customer asks for. BUT i will never recomend Champion for any vehicle. And i have asked here multiple times for the proof of all the talk of champion being the best and NO-ONE has come forward with anything except that ... my best friends buddy sisters cousin on my mothers side told me that i this is the greatest so it must be. Show me the proof i have asked for it many times. Till then , use what you want people if it doesnt work right , take it back , any good parts store will do that and give you something different. But dont use what someone tells you just because they say its the best , ask for the proof.
P.S. Nice to meet a fellow parts person im sure you and i could swap tails of customer service and both get a few laughs :)

All the proof you said you had , its still not here , and as a MODERATOR i would expect a little more reason from you. Offer proof or keep your responses to none. And there is NOWHERE on this board that i said that , so i would expect you to stop missusing your Moderator to change quotes. This thread is going to the real moderators and i hope your status gets revoked.

You don't have to be a Mod to change quotes. If someone has any message board experience they can do it.
As far as the proof...sorry I can't put the neons on the board. Maybe use Google and do some research if you'd like. But I'm not here to convince you. In the 9+ years I have been working and modding neons, either stock Champion or NGK copper plugs work the best ON THE NEON. I don't know how well Bosch plugs work in other cars, but on the neon they don't fair well along withthe platinum plugs.

Not needed, the copper plugs work best in a Neon, this is based on about 80% of the Neon driving population.
No need for any other plug. You won't see one difference with the platinum and most people have actually been seeing a Neon run worse on them.
Champion copper cores are so cheap too. Replace them every year or two and you will be good to go.
