OK this is whats going on, the third gear doenst grind doesnt pop out when I punch it, The third gear does not go into gear unless I hold it there until there is pressure on it. Can I get some input on what that is, Ive heard there is a adjustent wire or something like that is that true?

Its the cable that goes from the shifter plate to your tranny, from what people were saying in your OTHER thread, which all other information should be put, that cable needs to be replaced. Look at the cables and pick up a Haynes Manual from your local autozone or advanced auto. Everything its step by step and very easy to replace.

Well, it connects in 2 places, under your center console, youll see the cables, then through the firewall to the tranny where the big counterweight for your shifter is. Just follow the lines and check for any tears in it.

Its not the cables, its his shifter cable bushings... We went through this already. The guy he bought the car off of even told him it was the "shifter cable bushings." Did you not believe him or me in the last thread? The rubber bushings are ripped and need replaced, did you even check them first?

No they aren't the same thing, and please keep everything pertaining to one thread. Thanks

Shifter cables are the actual cables that run from the shifter, through the firewall, to the tranny so you can shift the car.

Shifter cable bushings are little rubber bushings (like a washer sort-of) that wear out and tear after a period of use. Replace them with some better bushings and your problems should be solved.

i had the same problem except all of my gears were doing it. it was because of lack of lubrication in the tranny it ripped my syncronizers out. eventually it seized the whole tranny up.
