Easy. Unplug the battery first. for the starter tHeir are only two bolts holding it in, one is 17mm, I THINK the other is 14mm, but I could be wrong. Anyway, first unplug the wire going to it, this is your ground, then unscrew the other wire, this is the power, don't loose the nut and washer. Once the two bolts and wire are removed, just pull the starter out. Put a new one in, put the bolts back in, tighten them down, put the wires back together, connect your battery, and start it up!

One thing that will make it easier to get to is to remove the air intake system. it sounds like a lot of work, but the starter is real hard to get to an dif it is the first time that you are replacing it yourself then its probably going to be torqued pretty tight. The job should take about an hour or less depending on how mechanically inclined you are.

I knew something was wrong when there was a whinning/grinding sound for about 1 second after the engine started and I released the key. Everyone I asked suggested it was the starter going bad.

Replacing it really was quite simple. I removed the air intake and then the starter, bolted the new one in and but the air intake back on. The hardest part was loosening the larger bolt that holds the starter on. I slid a long length of pipe onto the wrench for leverage. For a job the dealer wanted $450 for, I was able to do it with a $150 part and replaced it in about 1hr 30 min.
