Kit by Fujimi.

First modification I have done were the door panels. Only the front ones are done as of now. All windows are cut out individually and will be glued on separately to remove gaps between body and glass.

Rear bumper were slightly too wide to fit the main body so I heated it with boiling water and then bend it back inwards. Now it fits flush with the body.

Center console combined both new and old interior tub piece to be more accurate.

I drive a same year Lancer in real life with exact interior so I could put a little more correct details into the car =)

Here are a closer view of the inside door panel:
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b168/kaho4g94/8MR004.jpg

Next step: modifying Fujimi crappy suspension to have a correct stock stance. Excuse the dark pictures.
Front suspension unchanged. Rear suspension lowered 1mm and track width narrowed 2mm. Otherwise the rear wheels would stick out of their fenders.

Astonishing work you already did to it!

I just love the way the windows sit flush with the enclosures, that sure must have taken a lot of work to get this right. And those little details on the interior look just like they came out of the box, that's the best compliment one could have!

A little tip, when you re going to put the windows in, try 'painting' the outer edges, where you cut the windows, with some kind of black permanent marker, that way the clear plastic will look less like plastic.

Awesome job sofar, I m digging it!

Nice car and if Fujimi is the only company to make it then glad you are trying to improve it.
You will get dark pictures if you take them against a window!:banghead:
Turn around and take the photo with the window behind you or use the flash!

I really like what you've done to the windows, makes it look much more realistic. Door panels look great too. Keeping my eye on this.

I had the same "issue" with my Eclipse model. The reason I call it an issue and not an advantage is because, since you look at your car everyday, it's hard to know when to stop and if it's not perfect, it might drive you crazy.. hah

It's really looking great so far. Keep it up!

bigfrit: Thanks I will remember to black out the edges. These windows will need some touch up with sandpaper/compound and future wax too.

Guiddy: I tried taking the pictures with flash on but it seems to become too bright. I will try moving the product somewhere else to take pictures. Right now there are only teasers =)

bhop73: :1: , I can just imagine how big of a project this will become if I try to replicate everything in the real car.

Also I built some mounting points for the body and chassis so that the front bumper is not needed to hold them together. The fitment of body and chassis using the bumper alone is too flexible and unbalanced. Notice the white plastic pieces.

Finals are done! I have about 10 days to finish up this model -.-''
Opened up the front bumper slits, remade door handles, vortex generator, antenna, rear brake light and speakers.

It's putting in the extra time like this that really makes a model shine. This process must have taken a lot of time to do, great job you did with it.
Bigfrit, thats a good tip. I'm going to have to remember that one.

I didn't want to build a new exhaust system, but I realized after altering the rear trackwidth the original muffler will not fit. Since I have to modify the muffler to make it fit anyways I decided to build the whole straight through exhaust system since the work of modifying the existing one will probably be just as hard. Straight sections are made from styrene rods and a section of exhaust pipes from a Hasegawa evo was cut out for the bends on the downpipe.

After finishing up the exhaust I found out then I also need to modify the bumper to allow the muffler tip to go through! :banghead: The exhaust opening on the bumper is enlarged.

I like it. But, in my opinion, the exhaust tip is too big.

2 bonus! Added a hanger (staple) to hold the spot for the muffler, no more muffler tip hitting the bumper!
Connections filled with squadron putty, will be sanded smooth afterwards.

I made those jack stands out of styrene cards/sticks, and paper clip wires.

Now that school is over, I can start working on the model a bit (i work 2 jobs though so the progress is probably not very quick at all)

Painted the body with Mitsubishi A39, the same color as my real car. It is not yet polished. This color appears purple at certain angles and light quality.

Hmm,someone watched the same episode of top gear as me...LOL

Awesome!! You didin't clear it yet, right? But anyway,It looks terrific!!!

kaho
05-25-2007, 10:45 PM
Yea I watched that one, according to that episode the evo has a huge turning radius too.

The clear was applied around 15 minutes after the color was applied. I was so worried that the clear would wash away the color. Fortunately it didn't, and I sprayed the clear so thick too! I am never too worried that I would burn through when polishing with 1000 grit sandpaper.

So far only the roof and the hood has been polished. It gives a little bit of a mirror effect. =)

Body is fully polished. Interior built. I added B pillars, seat belts and their buckles, rear brake light, floor mat, flocked rear deck, as mentioned before door panels and center consoles were rebuilt, steering wheel is aligned with the seats. Seats needed to have their backs filled in.

I guess it also depends on the angle its being viewed at. The higher end Galants in Canada have these similar blue projectors too.
