On my 99 nissan sentra there is a clicking sound when I first start driving. It only occurs in first gear, and again ONLY when I first start driving. I have been told that I need new CV joints but if that were the case I would figure it wouldnt ONLY do it when I was in first gear. Any advice?

does the clicking speed up with the car's speed? or with the engine speed?
it could be something as dumb as a pebble in the brake caliper. id check your axle boots and see if they are ripped. usually axles dont go out unless the boots rip. it can happen though, and it could be an axle...

cv joints usually click when you turn if they are bad, try that out, if not it could be any number of things from a torn axle boot to something stuck somewhere it shouldnt be like slideways said
