2000 Elantra Battery HELP!

Why does the Hyundai elantra require a titanium battery? This battery cost anywhere from 80-120 bucks!

Amps are Amps right???...if I put in a standard run of the mill car battery in my elantra, would I be causing harm to the vehicle?

Never heard of that. I have a '99 and as far as I know it's just your standard battery.

Titanium battery, perhaps someone is referring to the Advance auto parts Titanium battery, and that is only about $69.00

I would assume that someone is trying to sell you a top of the line battery for some reason. The thing to look at when searching for a battery is cranking amps. Once the car is started, the alternator is supposed to supply the power needed to run the car's equiptment. Usually when it comes to batteries, the higher grade the battery, the more cranking amps. This is genrally the rule but not always. You need to find out what the requirements are for the car and get a battery with at least that spec. You can never really have too many, but you can have too little.
