bad s/c coupler or pulley??

I have had a pretty bad grinding noise coming from my belt area. i used a metal pipe to try and pinpoint the noise and i found that the noise was mostly coming from the tensioner on the s/c belt drive but there was a little noise coming from the s/c itself, just not as bad as the tensioner. Anyways, i changed the whole tensioner and pulley and the noise is still there. I took the belt off and spun the pulleys by hand and the s/c pulley had some slack in it. The grinding noise only happens at idle in gear and when i put it in park or neutral you can barely hear it while inside the car. Outside the car, with the hood popped you can hear it clearly. Also when the engine is under a big load, (like if i turn the steering wheel right or left and its in park) the rpms drop a little and the noise gets louder. Also when you shut the car off you can hear it almost sieze up. i just wanted some advice on what else i should do before i order a new coupler.

Since you are planning to replace the coupler which could be the cause of your problem I would do a better inspection of the complete snout while it is off. Be sure to get the improved coupler. Also, you may need snout bearings.

More frequent changing of the supercharger oil will help extend the life. I do mine annually.

You're welcome. DIY yes it is difficult. You can get the snout bearings from ZZP. To replace requires that you take it to an automotive machine shop where they will press out the old and install the new. Also, you could just get a complete snout if determined bad and if the coupler is not the only cause. Good luck!
