Yeah, I need to get 1k so I can have a down payment for my new car. I was already approved by my bank and so I just need the down. I'm not really asking for money (but if you could spare some I would appreciate it:grinyes: ) But I am asking you guys for some ideas so i could get some money. I have a month cause rates change and so do deals offered by the dealerships. I need to make this money as quickly and as legally as possible. The only illigal thing i would be doing is racing. So give me ideas, if you dont have a good idea please dont say anything cause i'm being serious here. Thanks guys.

first i need to know what kind of car your getting.

then just become a man whore, you could sell yourself to 10 fat chicks for a hundred bucks. Or 1 really fat chick for 1,000 bucks.

find a junker car as a whole, and part it out. I found a running 84 turbo z with a smashed in rear quarter panel. If I'd parted it out I could've made well over 1K

Sell the VW... LOL... seriously, what kind of car are you wanting to get?

FYI, I don't know about Florida but here in SC, Jettas are selling for outrageous prices... even base models... kind of crazy...

You could whore yourself out to a 1000 fat chicks.

But seriously, within a month you could start off by living cheaper for a while. (not eating out, going shopping for clothes, participating in expensive activities (ie poker) , etc.) I don't know how your job pays but if its hourly try and put in some more hours. But I think the main thing would to be to live frugal for a month. Good luck with the car.

Well, you haven't brought in $1000 in all the time you've raced, I'm just going to go out on a limb and say won't be getting the extra money from racing in just this one month...

Hey any bit helps.

Also even if I become a hermit I would get the money from just my job, I have things to pay for. I could probably save 600.

You still haven't answered on what type of car you are looking at.

Personally what someone mentioned as a joke you could actually do. If you can donate sperm (They're very picky from what i've heard), you could make quite a bit of dough. I know it sucks to not know that you are the legitimate dad of some kid out there, but you'll be helping a couple have a kid. I've heard you can get alot of cash quick that way.

Other things you can do. Pick up a part time job on the weekends, and just essentially save up money. If you wait tables you could get that cash quick, with all the tips you'd be making.

You can always go to an online bank too. My buddy got some ridiculously low percentage rate for a loan online (I believe 3.5%). Just a thought.

Now tell us what car you are getting.

FINE ILL TELL YOU, BUT JUST CAUSE IT'S YOU AND YOU ASKED. I'm getting an RX-8 in Phantom Blue with the Sport package.

Musashi is going to help me to bring in some clients so I can sell them insurance, that would definately help. I also have some more accounts that i am working on.

The part time job on the weekends is a good idea, but I would go crazy if I didnt get a day off from work. I know I could do it, especially since my fiance said she would help me to put a down payment, so I just need probably in reality an extra 4-500 not the 1k

for real, rx8? personally not a fan... Selling sperm is quite the process (nothing like what you see in Roadtrip) I looked into it in college. Quite lucrative if you seriously do it, but the startup process and costs wont happen in a month most likely.

So that said, how about a job?>???

Sell your spleen adn soul on ebay, or at least anything you are willing to part with, of value.

Yard sale, party, did i say job, back me in poker and I'll split the winnings with you, sell the VW, or any siblings you have....start up a meth lab?

Yeah Gotian it isn't that hard to come up with $500, or atleast I wouldn't think so. I hope your GF is paying you back for the car. You never know when a relationship might go south. No offense towards her intended, but i've seen alot of girls brag about how their ex got them a car, and then how they left them later on, but if you're rich, so be it.

The RX-8 isn't a good idea IMHO. I've heard they have alot of problems. They handle well, but have horrible resale value, and most likely you're going to be assuming more debt by purchasing one. You might wanna look at some alternatives such as:

- Acura Integra Type R (Yeah pricey, but it'll have twice the resale value of the RX8)
- Subaru WRX (Good handling, all wheel drive capability, and dummy proof launching)
- Evo RS - can actually be had fairly cheap. Look into it if you get a chance.
- 1LE optioned F Body. These are really hard to find, but they essentially have a kickass suspension which enables them to out handle most any car.

A heckuva lot. It has Koni Adjustable shocks/struts, which alone are $1,000. It also has different lower control arms, panhard rod, sway bars (Front and Rear), and a few other odds and ends. Stig was looking into it when he first got his Z28, and I believe he said it was close to a $2K suspension option. The F Bodies corner great with it, but have a jarring ride. The main component is the Koni Adjustable Shocks/Struts.

Very rare. I believe the last year they made them was 1999. Here are the production numbers for that year:

You do know about apex seals I hope. There is a reason that Mercedes, who utilized rotary engines before Mazda, but didn't put them in a car, didn't wanna market that engine. They suck ass. He's gonna have alot of problems with the car. Call my car a boat all you want, you haven't auto-x'ed before. Stock it ain't sh*t. Doesn't matter cause once a straightaway comes my engine will always do it's part. Besides the koni's do make the car handle well when you add in sway bars and springs.

As far as the WRX is concerned, I dunno. A guy I know from another forum had one, and he did a good 50 passes at the strip, without breaking a tranny. He also had nitrous, and was running high 12 sec. 1/4 mile times. Maybe the guys breaking trannies do some stupid stuff.

If I were gonna get a rotary powered car I certainly wouldn't buy one unless it's boosted. Honestly Gotian you are going to regret that rotary powered car later on in the future. Once you go boost, especially to a no torque rotary engine that isn't boosted, you are going to find yourself unhappy. Sure it'll handle well around corners, but once that straightaway comes it's gonna fall flat on it's face. Those cars run anywhere from a 14.5-15 flat 1/4 mile. That's also with a pro driver. I just think you need to go out and test drive more cars. I've seen those RX8's depreciate over $12K in 2 years. That's insane. I don't think they could get one off the lot at the GM dealership I went to. It was selling for $15K. I'm sure I could've done a direct trade for it. Heck they offered me a direct trade for a new Cobalt SS. Of course I turned that down.

I concur. I've heard of WRX owners dropping the clutch from 6k rpms on a launch at the strip and when asked why he did it, his response was because they told him to do it... peer pressure pwned... haha. Anyway, the car was fine and ran sub 10 second 1/8th or something like that.

I've only heard bad stories about the new RX8... the biggest one being that they're over-rated power-wise. Anyway, it seems like $500-1000 is just a drop in the bucket for an RX8. You must either have some cash saved up already for a downpayment or plan on making payments on that car for 6 years. Personally, I've never even owned the same car for 6 years so I couldn't fathom financing $300/mo. for a car payment for the same car for that long. Just my .02.

I think if the RX-8 is what you want then its what you should get. If the car puts a smile on your face every morning then the money you spend on it wont bother you as much. Plus you don’t read much about hooked up RX-8's or see that many. At least I don’t. So it would be cool to see what you can do with it.

start up a meth lab?Its Miami Florida, not Arnold Missouri. He needs to sell coke, not meth.

I think Plasma is the way to go actually. Around here, they give ya ten bucks per pint, and you can donate every three or four days. You won't be getting a grand, but it would definately bolster cash supply.

let me tell you guys about me and the rx-8, I first saw the car at sam's club in 03 cause they were promoting it. I stood there for an hour falling in love with the car. When I was younger my step father had an FC and I wanted it. but after 200,000 miles it died (nothing lasts forever). When I had my diamante I was saving up to buy the RX-8 But in december of 2004 my diamante died at 200k if it wouldve lasted 2 more months you guys wouldve known me with the rx-8 already, instead I had to use the money to buy the celica. So now I am savin up again and I have to get rid of the celica cause the car was going out too. I got my jetta and I got the bank to finance me. If I wouldve know that I could be financed through my bank I wouldve had the RX-8 a while ago. When I test drove the car I had a smile on my face the rest of the night, it was like having sex for the first time. I went again with musashi and still a huge smile on my face. I spoke to my g/f because we want to move in together, but she told me she can wait cause she wants me to get my dream car. So together we are going to get it and pay off the jetta in less than a year.

yeah, but theres still many people who take those engines to 150k without a problem. and if you upgrade the apex seals right away you wont have as much of a problem.

Call my car a boat all you want, you haven't auto-x'ed before. Stock it ain't sh*t. Doesn't matter cause once a straightaway comes my engine will always do it's part. Besides the koni's do make the car handle well when you add in sway bars and springs.

50 passes? well i cant say if its an abuse problem or longevity problem. but my friend has one and he usually dropped the clutch at somewhere between 5500 and redline every time. his tranny was annhiliated right as his odo rolled past 60k.

everyone has opinions...i do agree though. test drive it first. wring it out. hit redline every gear while going on to the freeway. do a couple 3rd gear downshifts on the freeway. see what the car is really like.

I've driven a Rx-8 through an AutoX course back in 2003 when Mazda sponsored the 'Rev-It-Up' program.

I never got out of 2nd gear, but since it reved so high, it didn't matter. It was a fun car to drive, I enjoyed it a lot. Easy to drive, decent handling... a nice GT car. But, sadly it didn't impress me in the ways of power and overall performance.

And, they're thirsty cars for what little power they do actually make. :(

Yeah I just re-read what I typed. I didn't mean to infer that you hadn't auto-x'ed, just that you hadn't auto-x'ed in an F Body. My understanding is that they will hand a 240 their ass. I dunno, where do you live around? I got a guy I know online that auto x's that he is planning on getting an F Body. Maybe you can run him, as I know he will set it up properly to hit corners.

I always state that mine doesn't corner well cause I use to have an Evo. It actually corners better then the 98 Cobra I use to have years ago.

I did test drive it, i took it to redline 1-4th gear and broke traction in 1st-3rd, I took a curvy rd by my office going 80+ that i would be scared to do in my car.

Also it is a misconception when it comes to the reliability of the car. read this article from car and driver for the 40k test drive.http://www.caranddriver.com/longroadtests/9838/long-term-test-mazda-rx-8.html

Better yet, does anybody on AF have one period?

The car has a bit of exclusivity to it, don't see all that many out there compared to the over abundant 350z/WRX and other such cars.

I can totally understand wanting something not everybody has, it's like me and my 240z's... at times I absolutely hate them, but more often than not I love them Like today, the Z started right up first crank after sitting for a week... suprised the hell out of me... so I love it right now. Looks wise, both my friend and I fell in love with the RX-8 when we saw it in the first X-Men movie. Performance wise, if I was paying upwards of 20K and wanted a rotary, I would buy the badass FD here in Austin, nice glossy black paint, dvd player and 7" screen, sub and amp in the back, along with a small bottle of N2O in between the two 10's. Not to mention the beautiful exposed headlight conversion and all the other stuff under the hood.

But if you like the 8, go for it, let us know at the end of the month if you meet your goal or not.

rotaries are actually known to get a bit faster as they age, if kept in good condition. Rotaries just need to be maintenanced on time. and trust me im going to be worse than musashi is with the goat. I already told him im keeping a shotgun that will spring out for me to catch it if someone leans on my car.
