Wow looks like theres tons of cobalt owners :) Anyways Jayson how are u liking the cobalt? Pretty much the same as a cav?
-Jayson-

no, no where near the same as the cavy, about 20 times better than the cavy could ever be. I love the cobalt, reminds me of how i felt when i first got the cavy.

I have a SS/SC and before this car I had a Cavalier LS sport 2004. I happily traded it for the Cobalt. On the SS/SC it a 100% differant car than the Cav was. I see no comparison whatsoever to a Cav. Engine is differant, 100% differant interrior as well as 4 wheel disc brakes.
It's been a good car, the 4 months and 2300 miles later.

not to mention, and try not to take offense to this, but i no longer have anything in common with the batch of retarded ricers that live in the cavalier section of this forum.

I've got a 2.2 liter LT coup with the sports package. The cobalt is a huge upgrade from the Cavalier

I ran accross someone at a stop light, he was going the opposite direction as me. He had a yellow SS/SC on Thursday night. I know he wanted to meet up because he didn't turn right at the light and he honked, but I was on the way to a concert in Boulder. I don't see too many SS/SCs here in Denver, I would guess I have seen 5 in the 5 months I have had mine.

yeah i actually dont see many SS S/Cs in my area either, and if i do, they are usually heading the other direction

I have a month old 2.2L LT Sedan with the sports package. Personally, I think this is the worse piece of crap I've ever owned. As I was driving off the lot I felt and heard a funny knocking sound on the rear passenger side of the car(which of course the dealer couldn't hear when I abruptly turned around and made him listen too). The knocking, which sounds like a problem with the suspension system, is now very loud and regular. When I brought it to service I was told that they would check it out when I get my first oil change. I have OnStar and according to their monthly reports I'm not due for an oil change for another few months.
I've also found 2 design flaws - one potentially dangerous. The first has to do with the rear door. Upon opening it I received a severe blow to the chest from the stupid top curve of the door. I thought it was just a fluke until I had a rear passenger who also suffered the same blow. (Unfortunately, I forgot to tell the person to stand back when opening the door.) The second, very dangerous flaw, has to do with the horn, or rather the position of the horn. Even though I know this car has the cruise control in the stupid position where most cars have the horn, in an emergency, as I was the other day, I automatically pressed that area. If I didn't react quickly enough and bang the center of the steering wheel (which meant I had to take a hand off the wheel) to alert a distracted pick-up driver I would have been hit in the side of the car. I emphasize the word 'bang' because that's what it took to get the horn to honk. Honestly, I am very unhappy with this car and find it a very uncomfortable drive. I am already looking into unloading this hunk of junk.

so your dont like the car because your hitting yourself with the door ? Almost every chev/GM car has the horn in the middle of the steering wheel, i dont recall being in one that didnt have it there. And if you have a hard time pressing the horn in, go hit the weights buddy.

It's not the car's fault that you can't think to get out of the way when a door is swinging at you. It's also not the car's fault that like every other newer model car, the cruise control is on the edge of the stearing wheel and the horn is in the middle.

This is not the first car I've ever owned. I've owned many, many cars and this one is by far the worst I've ever had. In the past I've owned cars by Nissan, Mercedes, Peugeot, Lincoln, Honda, Chrysler, Dodge, Buick, Lexus, Toyota and Acura, to name just a few. I change cars every 2-3 years. Therefore, I'm old enough and experienced enough to know a good car when I see one and this sure isn't one of them. Even the tin can Honda was better designed than this car and up to the point of my owning this car I considered the Honda the worse car I've ever owned.
Also, according to the Cobalt forum seems I'm not alone in that many other owners have the same knocking noise coming out of their piece of crap too.
But if you like the car and it makes you happy more power to you. I for one do not and will be unloading it shortly.

recently got an 06 LS. I like it, I have two problems though:
my driver's side door seems to close akwardly. Doesn't have that reassuring car-door-crunch sound, kinda dull instead.
the jack:nono: that owned the car before me liked rap music and his thudding base tore apart the speaker system. will need to buy a new one...
otherwise, I love it. It's a coupe and has virtually no back seat, so my friends no longer try to bum rides (had a hand-me-down Grand Caravan). Better gas mileage too!

Just picked up a brand-new 2007 LS 4dr, auto a few days ago. Super basic, roll up windows, no power locks, no cruise control, no ABS & I absolutely LOVE IT. Got it for $12100. $14600-$2500 in rebates. I didn't haggle on the MSRP because I worked them up on the trade-in allowance for my 2005 Trailblazer. After 15yrs+ of truck/SUV ownership, I should have switched over to something more cost effective like this Cobalt YEARS ago. The 2.2L Ecotec and 4T45E is a proven drivetrain and is a blast to drive. I wouldn't want it in anything bigger/heavier, but it's sweet in a Cobalt/Delta chassis.

2.2l/slushbox here as well. I can't say it's my favorite car I've ever owned, but it's a nice car. I went for a basic transport car, and it has treated me well.
As to the back seat, if you come from a 4th gen Camaro, then you KNOW what a non-existent back seat is! This thing is positively spacious to me, and I'm 6'1" tall. Of course, it doesn't match the '66 Fury for space or power. A 440 V8 tends to be a bit more than a little stock 4 banger. The Dart 340 also beat it in power, though space was about the same. Needless to say, I'm more used to RWD cars; I only owned one other front driver, a Honda Civic.
I intend to go with some upgrades eventually, mostly for handling, braking, and (hopefully) fuel economy. I don't need a race car, but I do like to tinker with things.

I just bought an '07 1LT sedan with auto trans. After the rebates, dealer discount, and my GM Card earnings, they practically gave me the car. I'm still keeping my 15mpg 2000 4wd Blazer for snowy days, but am looking forward to cutting my gasoline bill in half for everyday driving in my shiny new Cobalt. Only negative comment so far -- I bought the Ultra Silver Metallic and the shade of silver on the flexible front and rear bumper covers is actually slightly darker than the rest of the car. It was the same with every other silver cobalt on the lot, but I decided to buy it anyway so I really am not complaining. I'm just surprised that a huge company like GM still has problems exactly matching its flexible and non-flexible paints. Well, I guess I'm not that surprised. Love the car -- one of the best values in America and more than enough power for my needs.

it's only slow because of the points at which the auto transmission shifts. the engine gets the highets horsepower at high RPMs, but the transmission shifts at lower RPM to save gas and have a smoother and quiter ride. the car will take off like a bat out of hell if you've got a manual and you know what you're doing. pretty big waste of gas though.

With the go pedal floored, an auto will touch redline between shifts. Comparing a 2.2 auto with a 5spd, the 5spd is not going to be 'faster'. More fun to drive and more economical? Yes.
