Howdy
i recently installed the grille conversion kit for my 1991 1500 w/t.
all i have to say is i am amazed at the difference. it cost a few bucks to do it, but its well worth it, the resale value will make up for it. next up: 3inch body lift, 32"? BFGs and Eagle alloys
Photo Documentation of conversion:

I always thought the W/T grille would look cool if painted body color. Has anyone done this to a pickup or ex-police Tahoe?

Looks really good. Nice job.
I've always wanted to swap to the GMC grille, paint it body color, and do a mesh type grille treatment.

i saw the same truck as mine with the front grille repainted to white and he also had his front bumper and backbumper and step pads painted white. it looked really nice, and was considering it until the grill became to broken to fix. thanks for the positive comments. ill get some sharper pictures up

alright im gettin a lot of emails concerning what you need to buy to get this project done.
www.mrtaillight.com (http://www.mrtaillight.com)
go to chevy section, look for your specific conversion kit sorted by trim and year. then you must buy new headlights, and the 32/34 pc Work Truck kit *i think thats what its called*. the new grill bolts right on the frame, rememeber, W/T and sivlerado trucks have the exact same body and body mounting points, as they are a universal truck that chevy slapped a new grill on and sold for thousands more (and a few other changes). you just need patience when installing this. it took me and my dad multiple hours to do, but we did it with all hand tools.....
continue to email me if you have questions
better pictures of the grill, after an intense waxing job :)

I know a lot of people are (guessing from the emails i get) considering doing this. if you do this conversion, post your pictures in here!

I kinda like my work truck grill because the truck is dark blue. I think on the lighter color trucks the Silvy front end is a better choice.
Looks good!!

i agree, i do miss the black grill. the WT looks great painted to match lighter trucks. Also, this conversion, you can get a black grille, exact same thing, just not chrome, and i sorta wish i had done that now (i bought some blackout headlight covers, it wouod have looked sweet)
also, the black grill matches the theme i had going on, black tint, black bedliner, black bumpers, black toolobx

three years later, god how i miss this truck. a week ago i actually went back to the house of the person i sold it to in an attempt to buy it back, but they moved :(
anyways, heres some better pics of the results of the front end conversion, after a 4" suspension lift and new wheels and tires:

only reason i even found this thread is i still get emails to this day, 3 years later about this conversion, and someone linked me to it. good luck to those attempting it, its not very hard
