Car died, started later, died again

About 3 weeks ago I removed the balance shafts and the car has been great all around since.

Today I was at a friends house and the car sat for 20 minutes. It started fine then started sputtering and eventually stalled. It just cranked afterwards. About an hour later I decided to try again and it started up like normal for 3 seconds then sputtered and stalled again.

I left the car over there and will test things out tomorrow night but if you guys can give me some things to look at more specifically that would be awesome.

I already tested the fuel pump and it works using the test connection and it is also getting spark...

It's a 90 talon TSi AWD without b-shafts and a rewired pump.

Check the compression

Cars need 3 things, spark, fuel, compression

If you have all 3 start testing little things, bad batter, alternator, etc.

Try holding the gas pedal to the floor also when you try to start it, for some reason, my gst had to start that way for a while, I ended up having the batter out over night one day and the problem was gone. It was running wayyyy to rich and I guess it needed a reset. Not saying this is the problem though.

OK here's what I found out. I pulled the spark plugs to see if only 2 were firing and had my friend watch as i turned the engine over. Sometimes they would fire sometimes they wouldn't. I noticed I never heard the ECU clicking off when they didn't spark. I pulled the ECU, saw no leaking caps then I remembered that when you turn your key on your stock boost gauge should go to 0 and the check engine light comes on. Neither happens at all.

So I think it's safe to say that my ECU died... there was no warning just started it up and ran fine for a few seconds sputtered and died.

If anyone has a 90 AWD M/T ECU for sale let me know!
