car has been running pretty much fine until tonight. I've had a belt squeal since i had bought the car over a year ago and the check engine light has been on for a few months now but i got home from work today and turned off my car then went to leave a few hours later and my car turned right over and i heard a weird noise almost like a high pitched vacuum sound then something clicked and my car turned off then would not start after that. at first it was turning over just fine w.o starting but now every time i try to turn it over it gets weaker and weaker and sounds worse and worse. it now almost sounds like 2 metal plates rubbing together when i try to start it. please any info or suggestions would help thanks a lot.

maybe starter/bad battery/timing belt gone and how many miles are on the car?

most likely start if it sounds like grinding, make sure your battery is fully charged
