I have a n 03 Taurus with 45,000 miles on it, I noticed the other day that the floor on the passenger side of the car was wet, after some investigating I traced it to to where the AC condensation drain passes through the firewall, for some reason it seems to be backing up inside the car, any Ideas why this occurring and how I can correct it?

Clean out the little drain that goes through the firewall. It will get plugged with road trash and cause the heater/ac box to leak.

Any tips on how to do that? looks like you have to be Houdini to get at it

Take it to a shop that does AC work and ask them how to unplug the drain or let them do it and 'prolly cost you twenty bucks at most.
You want that fixed pronto because your car is going to smell like mold and mildew and stink. When you get it fixed open all the windows and take a fan and aim at the wet spot and dry that puppy out. If it's sopping wet go to a do-it-yourself car wash and use their vacuum and get the water out.
Vehicle A/C's are bigger than you think and a five ton house unit can produce up to 50 gals of water a day. That figure is under very hot with high humidity and the unit running continously. I have an 03 and live down South and when I park mine idling with the AC on in a short time it leaves a pretty big puddle of water.

Easiest way to get to it is to jack the car up, support it on jack stands and use a piece of coat hanger to unclog the drain. Be careful when pushing the coathanger in the drain tube becayse the evaporator is made of aluminun and is fairly easily damaged.
