90 LeSabre only starts sometimes

About a month ago my LeSabre began acting up, it would sometimes not start on the first try but it usually would start on the second or third try and run fine. Now it sometimes takes 15+ attempts to start if it starts at all. I think it is ignition related. I pulled the plug wires off the coil posts last night and found one to be rusted on the post and inside the plug boot. I switched the plug wire with a wire I know is ok and it did start on the first try but then wouldn't start again after shutting it off. Once I got it running again I pulled the wire in question off from the plug and the idle didn't change but there was spark. I did this with another wire and the idle did change but there was no visible spark. Any suggestions here? I have very limited mechanical experience and this is all I could come up with. Please Help!

Thanks,

Leo

1990 LeSabre 3800 When it won't start see if you have spark at all the plugs in the front , if not have the ign module tested at a parts house if ok, suspect crank sensor. If spark is good spray carb cleaner into the intake, see what happens.

Cold start issues can be affected by the strength of your spark as well. Make sure that that the spark you have isnt orange/yellow. Best way to test with household items is a screwdriver held 1/4 inch from a known ground. If you have spark from 1 tower of a coil and not the other, the potential of a bad coil pack is there, HOWEVER, 1 coil pack should not prevent the car from starting, but with the magnavox typeI setup, its all 1 assembly.
I blew the muffler apart on my 88 becuase of a bad module. Weak spark, good injector pulse filled exhaust with raw fuel. When the car finally started, BLAMMO. I replaced both items, the exhaust system, and no problems since.
