When I get in my 97 Wrangler and try to start it, it just cranks so if I let go and wait a few seconds and try it again it starts right up. What could be causing this?

This sounds similar to a problem I had with my old '95 YJ with the 4.0 liter. In my case, the mechanic told me there is a check valve the fuel pump that is supposed to keep the fuel from draining back to the gas tank when you turn off the engine. This check valve is a common weak point with Jeeps near this age. It does not hurt anything I'm told, and the price to fix it is way more than it's worth. I was told to deal with it and save my money. This sounds similar to your problem anyway. It turns over nice but is starving for fuel because it has to come all the way from the tank as it has drained back further than it's supposed to. Hope this helps, good luck...
