Headlight problems

Has anyone encountered this problem with their Trailblazer? I have a 2002 model and the right, dim headlight keeps burning out. I wrote off the first replacement bulb as a defective bulb since it only lasted about three weeks. The second time I replaced the buld the connector was burned out and I had to replace it also. I had the tail lights replaced due to a recall but have not found a recall on the headlights.

Are you running OEM wattage replacement lamps? Anything other that what came with it from the factory can overheat the lamp holders, etc..

Yes, the replacements were OEM.

Have you had any other electrical issues aside from the head and tail lights? I guess it could be possible the voltage regulator is shot in the alternator, but I'd think you'd have issues aside from the headlamps if that was the case.

Had the same problem in my 03 Trailblazer. Check the recepticle that you are plugging the bulb into. One of the wire to the recepticle has a crack in it and the wire was in a bind and that kept shorting the bulb out. go to you auto parts store or chevrolet house and they have a replacement recepticle that you have to solder. DO NOT let them try to sell you the whole lamp assembly. The replacement recepticle is less thatn $10

Thanks and that does make sense. I was thinking that I was going to have to buy the whole lamp assembly. There hasn't been any other electrical problems in the vehilce or with any of the other lights in the headlight assembly.

The connectors were an issue with my 2002 on both sides, I installed a HD replacement connector from NAPA.
