I have a 94 4x4 with a 22re. When I am in first gear and step on the gas I can hear a loud squeaking/chirping noise. It sounds like it is coming from under the truck. I think it might be coming from the transmission, but not really sure. If anybody knows about the problem or how to fix it, i would really appreciate it. thanks

Did you check the belt?

I thought it might be the belt at first, then I changed it and it still does it?

is your tries sping on the ground? sounds dumb but that might be the noise. Does it do it in 2ed if you stomp on it?

If I am really on the gas it will chirp when I shift to 2nd.

might just be the tires loosing grip.

it's not the tires slipping, because it will sometimes do it when downshifting into 2nd and the engine is revving high. It sounds like a bird chirping it's guts out under there.

Switch,
Hey I ran into that problem driving from Florida to Dallas and within 30 miles of Dallas I hear this strange noise from under the truck. Well I drove the 30 miles to Dallas and wouldn't you know it my tranny blew 5th gear and then on down the line it went. the noise was from the gears spinning on their shafts. I hope t his isn't your issue cause it will take about 1600.00 to fix the damage. If your throw on your shifter is wide then your linkage inside the tranny is faulty and this will cause future tranny problems.. Hope you find out what your issue is....

Thanks for heads up. I really hope that isn't the case, how long did it take for the other gears to go out. Mine's been making noise for a month now.

Mine's been making noise for a month now.Is your shifting throw short or long, if it is long them your linkage is wearing and the tranny is not adjusted right...HOpe you remedy this beofre you loose your gears out on the trail or in rush hour traffic..

just take it to a tranny shop and they will test drive it for frr, and tell you what it is.
