maximum hp out of a celica

hey guys.
i want to buy one of 90-93s. what motor swaps/alterations/mods can you do to a celica to get the most hp possible out of it?? if the 93 alltrac has 200hp stock, what can be done to put out even more hp?? super chargers? what about putting a v8 lexus motor in it? or would that create more weight? i want to be able to get up to 300+ hp if possible. what ways can this be done?? also i dont know how easy a 93 all trac would be to find, is it possible to get another modle to put out up to 300+hp??

it is relativley easy to get 300hp out of the 3sgte in the celica alltrac. the motor will bolt to the stock gt/gts tranny(although the stock tranny will start to crap out at high hp)so you could try to find an mr2 turbo or v6 tranny if you want. youll need the 3sgte ecu and wiring harness as well as the engine. but the stock block is capable of about 500hp and with a fully built engine the 3sgte is prolly capable of close to 1000hp.

as far as getting the 3sgte to 300hp, youll prolly want a new exaust system and downpipe. upgrade the stock intercooler. get a boost controller and increase the boost(youll need a fuel cut defender to stop fuel cut at high boost). you could even go for a standalone unit for the best control over the engine.

500hp..1000hp. thats amazing. i didn't know celica's were capable of that much. So would you say after rebuilding the engine this way, will it pass emissions in canada?? and would it be faster than a v8 trans am, an acura integra gsr motor in a civic hatchback and the typical tuned hondas?

yea the 3sgte is one of the best 4cyls out there. theres a guy named jekylandhyde in the mr2 forums with an mr2 turbo(3sgte) pushing 350 horsepower at the wheels(thats about 400 crank) on the stock bottom end with 220,000 miles on his car. as far as passing emissions, its tough to say. its hard to keep a modded car passing emissions but with the right tuning its not too hard. with a 300hp 3sgte in a 5th gen gt/gts you should be about on par if not a bit quicker than a trans am, the stock 3sgte will smoke an intergra or civic unless they have a moderatley modded engine.

^actaully he just rebuilt it and it a stroker now (2.1 liter) and hes pushing 567 rwhp/396.7 ft lbs @ 27 psi of Boost

wow, nice. did his engine finally give or did he just rebuild it for more power?

just rebuilt, with a stock bottem end i think he made 400+whp
