Coolant Leak below alternator???

hello all, i am new here.

Ive searched the forums allready for anything like this but no luck.

98 V8 4x4

What i have is coolant leaking from below the alt. When i rev the engin i can see it squirt out with some force. When i shut the engine off and try feeling down there i can't get back far enough to feel where the coolant is coming from, and i cant see it either. It is tucked to far back.

Also a lil history on this vehicle might help.
4 years ago had the intake manifold crack, and chevy replaced it for us.
About 2.5 years ago a friend barrowed the vehicle and overheated it can kept driving untill the top end let go. So we had the top end rebuilt, and all has been good till now.

So does anybody know of anything in that area that can leak? Ive felt the hoses and it doesant seem to be from them.

Help!
Thanks
Jon

I don't know exactly what model you have, but the closet hose that is there would be the lower radiator hose or the heater core hoses on top. At least on my Blazer...

I checked all the hoses.... It seems to be squirting from inbetween the block, and something aluminum....Is that the backside of the H20 Pump?

The water pump may have two holes in it, if its leaking there it is a seal in the pump. A small mirror and flashlite may do the trick. The gaskets where it mounts to block is also a popular leak.

Get a pressure tester and check it - sounds like the intake leaking and it can come up in the valley between the valve cover and intake and runs down depending on parking angle - or the front gasket on intake - use a flashlight and look closely.

Sounds like the thermostat housing is not sealed properly.

Get in ther and find the exact area where it is leaking or you won't be getting anywhere.

Well crap!

It is leaking from inbetween the waterpump and the engine block... Its is Squirting out like 6" in a presurised stream. I was able to finally see where it was coming from when i looked over the top. And Yes i am sure that that is where ist coming from. This sucks because it is a new H2o pump, and the shop that sis it is out of bussiness!

Which way is the stream going? From the pump or from the block. Maybe one of the hoses has a pin hole in it.
