did the delta use the FIAT twincam?

I dont think it was a FIAT unit. from what ive read, it was developed by Abarth specially for the integrale

Yes it did... Tipo 16V as the same engine as the Nuova Delta 2.0 16V and Nuova Delta 2.0 16V Turbo... the same as in the grale

The engine was fiat derived, i personally didnt think it was identical to the Tipo's.

16 valve head was designed by Abarth for Lancia Beta Coupe World Rally Car in the mid 70's.

Those heads retail now for 10.000 euro's......

Not precisely. The Lancia engines often featured 'improvements'.

eg My Volumex engine appears to be an 8V Fiat engine.. but has
Nitriding.
Reinforced bearing shells with sintered liners
Head gasket with ceramic inserts.
Special pistons.
I suspect the block has extra strength too.
BTW Volumex is Supercharged.

The Delta was a further development of this engine, so is more than a FIAT engine with a 16V head
