Clearing check engine light

Anyone know how I can clear the check engine light without using that diagnostic machine?

A service tech cleared the light on a 98 Accord by starting the car while doing something to the trip reset switch. Is there any procedure like that for a 98 Zx2?

disconnect the negative battery terminal and let it sit for 15min, or hold the break in (just to drain the charge left in the system) then reconnect the battery. but unless you fixed the problem it will come back on.
