Starter Removal - 1988 T-bird

I'm trying to remove the starter from a 1988 T-bird and am having a helluva time getting to the top bolt.
No matter what I try, no matter how many extensions & swivels I snake around & through things to get to it, I can't get a good bite on that bolt.
Anyone out there able to give detailed directions on how to get to that thing?
