gto vs.250z

hey guys, im saying goodbye to the mustang, i had it to long and its time to get a real car. heres my problem. i dont know what to get. i want a 350z or a gto. i test drove both, the gto seems like it need more HP to reach 400, but much fast then the 350. the z was tighter and more sexier. i guess it all comes down to speed or looks. also, what is more reliable. i want a car where people see me and say wow, i want a car where girls want to ride shoot gun. i got a big head, what can i say. i need some opinions. what would you pick and why. the more help the better. they both are around 32000 new. thanks alot.

i heard with the alum blocks, once they heat up they never run the same. so if it ever overheats, thats the end of it.

We "hear" lots of things. I can say with experience, LSx engines are every bit as reliable as any other. And more powerful than most!
LSx has been in production since '97. We've seen a grand total of two that had broken parts in them. A couple others had over 200K miles, and were simply worn out.
Last month, we rebuilt a pair of 350X heads when the timing mechanism failed and bent a bunch of valves. I have no idea how many miles it went. Most of these incidents we see, are because the ownrer failed to replace the timing belt at the recommended interval, and the manufacturer is not really to blame.

Our shop is small and "in the country", so we may not be getting a true cross-section of what's going on out there. American cars are much more popular among the "country folks", so we see a disporportionate amount of GM and Chrysler engines than our "big city" counterparts.

The REAL question here is: "Would you rather be seen driving a Pontiac? Or a Datsun...?"
