Hilux Surf - auto box aint behaving........

Strruth. Just picked up the vehicle following a belt change and am confined to 4WD (What does AT/P mean?) but no action from auto box. Needless to say, no manual cos Jap import. Can anyone help.............?? Av thought about pressing the little red button on auto box but memories of 007 films prevent affirmative action!! Am new to 4WD and finding the experience a little daunting.
