i've heard there are problems with 02-03 Spec V's computers or something. is that the case with 02-03 SER's as well?

yes sir, it is. 03's are much less problematic than the 02's, but the 04+'s are such a leap ahead, it's like Toyota made them

I don't see why it wouldn't, but the ECU isn't the only problem with the 02's and 03's. Shift linkages, knock sensors, O2 sensors, MAFs.....aaaand so on. Worst I've heard of were the connecting rods just breaking for no reason. That would suck.

04 ecu will not run a 02 car, slight tweaks and redesigns make them just different enough not to work, hence why technosquare looks for the "letter" code in your ecu to determine which flash to give it, pre-cats are problematic throught year range which can be solved by going to an aftermarket header, connecting rods are like popsicle sticks and cannot handle over 230ft-lbs of torque without rolling the dice on breaking, for NA applications this is more than enough but turbo forget it, butterfly screws on the intake mani can get sucked into the intake plenum if not loctited, there is a writeup on b15sentra.net for it, other than that have fun, its a great little car
